Justin is an Environmental Planner focusing on solid waste management and climate change issues based in St John’s, NL. He is a member of the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Professional Planners (NLAPP), and the Canadian Institute of Planners (MCIP). Originally from the prairies, he has recently relocated to Atlantic Canada.
Justin a versatile generalist who enjoys working with data to help develop effective policy and support informed decision-making. He has over a decade of experience working in municipal government at the City of Winnipeg. Most recently he was responsible for leading the review of the Comprehensive Integrated Waste Management Strategy, and the development of the Organic Waste Diversion Strategy. His background also includes urban planning and public engagement.
Justin has spoken regularly to students at the Universities of Manitoba and Winnipeg on waste management and urban planning issues. He has also presented at workshops and conferences hosted by the Compost Council of Canada and the Manitoba Environmental Industries Association. He has previously served on the Board for StorefrontMB, and volunteered extensively with the United Way of Winnipeg, Winnipeg Fringe Theatre Festival and Art City. When not at his desk, he’s passionate about cycling, food, nascent modes of cultural production, and acquiring new hobbies.Â
